----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: lbchan Message 2 in Discussion Hi LadyT, They are different drugs, but both are used to treat pit tumors. Cabergoline is the generic name for Dostinex. Bromocriptine is the generic name for Parlodel. Both are "dopamine agonists" that suppress prolactin production from the pituitary. They can also sometimes be effective at shrinking pit tumors. Both are now available in generic form, although the generic cabergoline is still much more expensive than bromocriptine (which has been in use much longer). BTW, it seems like different people react very differently to each of them -- I had terrible side effects on one, but do fine on the other. So if you try one, and have problems, keep your spirits up and ask (demand!) to try the other. --Kim ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/PituitaryChat/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
