Hi Acro1974, You sound alike like me. I have Acro and my IGF-1 level is 245
using a 80-220 range. I tried Sandostain LAR 10mg and lowered my IGF-1 level
to 137. While my IGF-1 level was lowered a still felt the same, headachces,
fatigue and muscle pain. I'm 45 years old 3 years from surgury at UCSF and I'm
currently seeing Dr. Katznelson at Stanford. I've tried every thing, Dosenex,
Sandostain and 2 month ago I was put on Somvert 10mg. The Somavert has not
lowered my IGF-1 so I just start the Somavert 20mg daily shots. As far as
the GH goes I have a .6 and I think Minnie's response is correct. As long as
you are contoling you IGF-1 which is produced from GH your Acro is under
control. Normal GH is less then 10 using the my last blood work in April 2007.
I'm also not sure about all the IFG-1 level. The essay test ranges are changed
from time to time. A year ago my IGF-1 level was at 280 and considered normal
using a 80-320 range.  Then 6 months later my IGF-1 level is 245 using a 80-220
range and considered high. I did have some luck with starting testrostrone
daily gel along with a thyriod med. This combonation seems to help with my
muscles and give me a little more energy. Like you I have good days and bad.
I seem to have bad day when I push myself. I have a basic 40 hour a week desk
job. I try a walk about 1 to 2 miles a day and do yard work on the weekends
along with play golf. Just this damm burning headache is making it hard to
function. I you had any luck with other medicines or diets?? The hard
part for me is trying to figure if these syptoms are from the active Acromegaly
or the after effective of the Acro. Dr. Katznelson seems to think it's from
the Acro but can not explain why if the meds lower my IGF-1 why I don't feel
better. Thanks for your post it's helpful to read up on people with similar
issues. I hope you start feeling better. Take Care, Dave
