----------------------------------------------------------- From: Indygirl_panhypopit Message 13 in Discussion Hi Pippa, There are a couple of different ways to do the stim test for GH, mine was the protocol with GHRH and Arginine. The worst part was the nurses trying to get the IV into me!!! I think it took around 3 hrs total......I mean the test part, not the trying to get the IV into me. :) The only time I felt something was when they put in the Arginine and I just felt a little sleepy, but not enough to fall asleep. My local doc did not know how to order this test, so my endo in LA gave him the testing protocol, as it has to be ordered by a local doc since it's done in a hospital...outpatient of course. They do this in case there's a problem and you have to be admitted. Could your doc in Portland give you the protocol they use? Is there another endo in town that could help you? I don't know who told you adults don't have problems with low GH, but they're wrong. It wasn't until pharma companies could make a synthetic version of the hormone that adults began to be treated, because prior to this there was a limited supply since it was coming from cadavers.......so it was reserved for children. Low growth hormone causes all kinds of terrible symptoms......muscle and bone loss, fat increase,.....depression, social isolation, etc. What kinds of symptoms are you experiencing? Have you had your IGF-1 level tested? It should be in the upper part of your age range to really feel good. I just started on Humatrope about 3 months ago and got to the right level about 6 weeks ago. Not feeling as great as I'd like, but it can take awhile for the full effects to be felt. Hope this answers some of your questions. :) Gina ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/PituitaryChat/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
