Hi Tricia, I'm sorry that no one has answered you and it has been almost a
month so I don't know what stage in diagnosis you are at now. I am new to the
boards and I hope my information will help you. No, never heard of Dr. White.
Quick summary on my case. A macroademona, 2 x 2.5 cm approx. removed 6/19/07
and UCLA. When I was diagnosed my prolactin was 81 and I was told by Dr.
Heaney of UCLA (not mine but he spoke at a support group) that my prolactin was
elevated but that I did NOT have a prolactinoma and not to let and endo say it
was and start me on a drug. I went back to my endo at Kaiser and she agreed
and referred me for surgery. They both said the prolactin had to be in the
hundreds or more to be a prolactinoma and that the slightly elevated prolactin
was from the tumor pressing on the pituitary gland. Please check this out and
get a second opinion from a really good endo. If your tumor is over 1 cm, and
it is, it is a macroadenoma and they are usually removed by surgery. This
should be done before it spreads into the sinus cavity as mine did. Phoenix is
not far from LA and there are some top Drs there for excellent second opinions.
My Dr. (Dr. Kelly) was the director of UCLA's endo-pituitary surgery dept and
is now with St. Johns in Santa Monica. He was excellent and I highly recommend
him. Everything I have read, and I believe it's true, that the outcome of
pituitary disease depends so much on the experience of your Dr., especially the
surgery. If you have anymore questions, please ask. Hope this helps. Diana
