We talked about generating a package that contains a default set of configuration data for packaging clients, as well as enhancing the catalog to include information about mirrors. Neither one of us has made a final decision about this. > 3) Automatic "preferred" mirror selection I'd call this optimal mirror selection. I've been thinking about this a fair amount, but probably won't do anything sophisticated for the first implementation. Ideally, I'd like to measure observed performance for longer-running transactions, and then choose the fastest mirror. There's some amount of experimentation that will have to be done to get this exactly right.
