Harry - if you could break things down and give us some comparisons that 
would be helpful. We are working on various performance issues, some of 
which will be in 2008.11 and some targeted for 2009.04.

- Initial Startup <-- we are processing info from several sources here 
and this will be optimized for 2009.04
- App usable <-- currently we load descriptions in the background after 
startup, which is not ideal, should be addressed for 2009.04
- Type ahead search <-- bug filed and fix ready to apply
- Switching Categories <-- seems fast to me :)

- Install package <-- Please provide examples and comparisons with other 
distros
- Remove package
- Update package
- Update All

And so on ....
