A more detailed summary of changes will be posted soon, for now it is suggested that you review the bugs mentioned above, and doc/client_api_versions.txt to find out what's changed.

Shawn,

Can you talk about what, if any, impact this will have if we
opt to backpublish these changes?

Looking at the code it appears as though the old command line
options (set-authority, unset-authority, authority) are no longer
accepted. Is that correct?

If so, are there any concern about breaking compatibility at the CLI
level with 2008.11? Seems like it would have been simple to
also accept the old syntax.

It was intentional that all old references to authority were removed to avoid confusion (there's enough of that surrounding authorities and repositories right now). However, it was requested that the old commands be recognised since there is a direct 1:1 mapping between the old and new.

All references have been purged from the documentation, but the old commands will be recognised for a time and then eventually removed (they will remain undocumented).

I already have a forthcoming webrev to add recognition of the old command names.
