I don't believe you can use osol_111 to install 2008.11. There are
zfs incompatabilities and it will not boot. If you really want to
do this, you should use 2008.11 to install 2008.11.
The easiest way to test this will be to just download a 2008.11 iso,
and install that into a virtualbox image.
Hi
Probably, but the pkg system is quite handy if it can do this too.
( that is can it provision the system like I'm doing )
Space is not a concern for me, and it's easy to script this as well.
I agree that it would be handy, but there are two issues here:
* images created with newer versions of the packaging system won't
necessarily work correctly with older versions of the packaging software
* the tools that the packaging system relies on (zfs, etc.) may not be
backwards-compatible with the older tools
Cheers,
Hi
Thanks for that info. So if I use 100a it might stand a good chance of
working. Will give it a shot. More an experiment really, can always
reinstall my machine anyway to et the official 2008.11 :-)
