To be honest, I'm uncertain. I lifted this code from libbe and tweaked
it a tiny bit for the suffix logic.
What I do know is that it works as I expect.
I get a new be named after my current one with the suffix "-backup-1".
I'll take another look at it just to be certain and do a few more tests,
but I think it's right.
