You should also be able to trigger a service to be disabled which could go in and remove the files. We have an RFE somewhere (can't find it right now) which would allow you to tag a directory as exclusive to a particular package, so that when the directory was removed, any remaining files would simply be torched, rather than salvaged. But we've never sat down and hashed out what should happen if more than one package delivers the directory (either consistently exclusive or a mix), so no one's ever gone forward and implemented it.
