Hi,

Admittedly seems there is more activity on FFmpeg's than libav's side.
It does not necessarily reflect into higher quality though - plus,
libav is not dead at all as they're still releasing new versions and
providing support and fixes for a number of stable branches.
I'm personally getting very well with libav and apparently it is
enough to meet all my needs too. Nevertheless others are encountering
issues that they claim are solved with FFmpeg, so that might be a
solution which could make many users happy.

I'm not going to vote on this now as I really need to hear an opinion
from the libav's current maintainer, Reinhard Tartler.
I genuinely believe that we all need to hear an opinion from him
before taking any further action.

Thanks for copying me on this email. It seems that I was automatically
unsubscribed from that email on May 1 due to excessive bounces, and failed
to notice that. I've resubscribed myself now.

I've also started to read the mails that have been exchanged so far.
The main issue is that I'm currently travelling and need more time to
articulate my opinion on the matter[1] than I have right now.
Please give me a couple of days to catch up.

Best,
Reinhard

[1] it is much less black and white than Andreas suggests -
please don't put words in my mouth
