There is a case for having it as a separate project, since it is
useful outside of planner, and adding it to the planner project would
reinforce the confusion about whether it is or is not part of
planner. 

I seem to remember that org-mode can use remember too, but I don't
know if it is widely used in that context.  And, of course, it can be
used to great effect on its own.
