This has been discussed a lot, and you'll find a lot of useful tips if you search through the archives for this list. Searching for "sync" should get some results. I started an area on the wiki mentioning some of the tools at <http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/PlannerModeMethods>. If people would add to that, it would be much appreciated -- this discussion comes up a lot so it seems like something people really want to know about.
