Few hours after my email they identified IRI support to be responsible for
above behaviour (on by default) and provided two workarounds:
1. Adding --no-iri to wget
i would disable IRI (wtf is it anyway and why "on" by default) for next
decade.
definately do that in distfiles, interactive cli may stay broken to get
more more bugreports.
