Are you saying that the release info for shift or control is sometimes not
received, or that the release info is never received?
In X11 I often have the problem that shift is pressed when the mouse is
over the window, but then shift is released after I have moved the mouse
off the window, resulting in the shift release not being recorded. This
is corrected by moving the mouse back onto the window, pressing shift and
then releasing it. Does this describe your problem?
(my experience is with Bochs but they share the same keyboard code)
