I'm reading the PCI Local Bus, Revision 2.1 spec from PCI SIG. The 2.2 spec.
is available from PCI SIG (www.pcisig.com) for $25, I believe. If you want
to find it, select "developers" from the tabs on the left and "downloads"
from the popup menu. This is mostly a hardware spec., but it has all the
software developer would need for a reference. There are books available,
but I know enough from experience that I don't really need to use one. I
can't really recommend any. I will ask around and pass on any
recommendations I get.
