Yes, I was referring to that Marius (I was not sure whether "schamschula" is his nickname or his surname). I thought I'd mention his particular problem within this context because it seems exemplary for a class of applications. Given that CMake will make it into the various Linux distros, it should not be a big problem to build PLplot separately. The only thing left then, I think, is to explain this favoured set-up for developers who want to provide PLplot as part of their own package/application.
