could you exactly write down which packages you need to get this  
going? I already have a lot of these packages installed, but it would  
be good to know what the minimum packages are needed to get the tests  
going.

I think you will need:

Core Utils: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/coreutils.htm
maybe grep: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/grep.htm
maybe sed: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/sed.htm

You usually need only to download and unzip the "Binaries" and  
"Dependencies" (only libraries needed for the Binaries). Then add the  
bin directory to the path.
