As of commit 9767f48 I have just done an update of README.developers
which among other changes now summarizes the git install instructions
that are given in the Pro Git book.

For the Windows case, feel free to modify those git install instructions
if msysGit is not the version of git that you prefer on Windows.

@Greg:

I hope those new git install instructions (in full as referred to in
the Pro Git book URL) make sense to you in retrospect.
