I notice at <http://repo.msys2.org/mingw/x86_64/> that pango
1.42.[1-4] have already been packaged along with 1.43.0. So I plan to
submit a bug report to the MinGW-w64/MSYS2 maintainers asking them to
rebuild 1.42.4 with their present compiler version and drop their
packaging effort for 1.43.x because of this bug we have been
discussing and also the general instability reason you stated.
Done. See <https://github.com/Alexpux/MINGW-packages/issues/4830>.
My last bug report to the MinGW-w64/MSYS2 developers got addressed
late last year with a fix that was rolled out in a timely way. So
this project appears to be responsive to bug reports (as opposed to
ignoring them like some projects do) so I hope to hear soon from them
whether they decide to go along with this suggestion or not.
Well, it wasn't super quick, but the MinGW-w64/MSYS2 developers
claimed they solved this issue today, see
<https://github.com/Alexpux/MINGW-packages/issues/4830> and a link
from there to another bug report.
Anyhow, this would be a good opportunity for all three of you (Arjen,
Günter, and Tom) to drop Tom's "Requires: gobject-2.0" workaround to
see if this MinGW-w64/MSYS2 bug is really fixed.
