How about something like this: When a line has been found to contain or tag pairs, increase the height of the line, and pad the NON sup/sub with whitespace above or below, as necessary. Here's an example (excuse the horrid ascii art): - ------------------------------------------------------------ space above .-----. | | .--. .--. | .---' <- this is a sup character | | | | | | | `--' | | `---. | | | | | .--. | `-----' | | | | <- space below sup letters `--' `--' <- this is normal, sit on bottom of row - ------------------------------------------------------------- This of course, would only appear in rows which contain the or elements, not on all rows. If you've ever seen how MathML is reperesented in a webpage, this should be a bit easier to understand. The opposite would be for sub, where the "normal" font appears at the top of the line row with a few pixels of spacing underneath the "normal" letters, and the "sub" characters would sit on the bottom of the row itself, with a few pixels of space above the font characters in that row. Just one idea... and fairly harmless to do, easy to support. d. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.1.92 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9yXT/kRQERnB1rkoRAtyHAJ9gt4hlbNQdBrLUafPUf+Mi2oHqpwCgjqTh Fb9boevPEVt4E0I0oZGcBFI= =B6d7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ plucker-dev mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-dev
