It would be difficult for the viewer to support both (text colour and
background image/colour). But, it wouldn't be too difficult to add an
option into the viewer preferences allowing the user to 'force text
colour' or something.

I'm not volunteering to do so, I have too much other crap, er, stuff
to do.. :) But I'll put fill this in on the bug tracker as a feature
request.
