Try this out. I know that on the Handera 330 by default does not assign a Volume Label to its external cards (as palm OS4 and higher devices do). From a programming standpoint one problem we hand in supporting it was this lack of a label problem.
In the viewer's case, the worse that can happen is that if you have both a SD card and a CF card in, plucker may have difficulties identifying which docs live on which card. If only one expansion card is used (either CF or SD) this problem should exist.
Judging from your error message, you might be seeing another symptom of this problem. I don't remember if the built in Handera file browsing problem has the ability to set the Volume Label, but other 3rd party apps I think have this feature. You might want to try Filez.

I don't know if setting the Volume Label will fix your problem.. but I can say though that we saw some odd things happening on this device (atleast from the viewer's perspective) since it is one of the first devices with external card support.
