Do SD cards and CF cards handle this differently?

Filez _does_ let me change the volume label on the CF card in my Visor
Pro with MemPlug CF adapter.

The volume label shows as a 0 byte file in the root directory of the
card.  I just rename that file, and voila!, the card has a new volume
label.
