        You're using pine, why not just color them by incoming list name?

patterns-indexcolors=LIT:pattern="/NICK=plucker-list/PARTIC=plucker-list/FLDTYPE=ANY"
action="/ISINCOL=1/INCOL=\/FG=cyan\/BG=black"

        Seems to work for me for about 3-dozen mailing lists I'm on. I find
the extraneous repetitive [listname] stuff in the subject lines taking up
valuable space that could be used for actual subject text. Having to make
the pine window wider just to see more of the subject visible is a royal
pain.
