You are going to have to isolate it here. Do the following.
Scoop the site but tell sitescooper to convert it to several html files. That would be the -mhtml switch instead of the -plucker (�?) switch. Once the html files are created, go and examine them. Are they too big, are they ok? Can you read them with your browser? If those files are ok, then you should pluck from those files. This way we can test where the problem is.
