I haven't tried that nor do I know if it would work but, for a page by page reformating, if you use Mozilla/Firefox, you might try the bookmarklet PDAize or Linearize from: http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/validation.html A bookmarklet is a small piece of JavaScript so it might even be possible to create something which would run it for all pages but that's not in my area of expertise.
