# Hi.
# I tried installing LinuxMandrake v7.0 using the txt_boot.img and the
installation went on smoothly but when I was about to log in as ROOT, the password
that I entered previously was not accepted. I tried installing it twice and the same
problem occured. If I am to install it by utilizing its autoboot feature, I am able to
log on as root.

Hmm. Strange. If I remember is right, the Linux-Mandrake installation
prompts if the user wants to create non-root user accounts. Did you
create one? If you did, you can login a that user.

Now, if you are stuck with no reg user account and "login" does not accept
your password for root, then try booting in single user mode. At the
"LILO:" prompt, type: "linux single" -- of course not quotes. This will
allow you to enter single user mode. From there add reguser accounts.
(Dunno if you can change root password -- I have not tried it.. but you
should be able to)

HTH
