It's something I think most oldbies(*) should do-- go pop in a newer
distro such as FC2 (and upwards) or Ubuntu and try it out. The Linux
desktop has indeed improved by leaps and bounds, and will continue to
improve. (I've been telling this to a friend of mine, a former PLUGger
who's now a Mac OS X fan-- the Linux desktop may not be there yet, but
it's a helluva improvement over the Linux desktops just two or three
years ago.)

* Or anyone who has been disillusioned by earlier Linux desktop experiences.

Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.
[aloud]
Captain Renault: Everybody out at once!
