I have observed this, and would concur. However, I have been able to "clock" the processor at extreme levels and force it to run in peak performance mode in places where the air humidity and temperature are low. I use the longrun [1] tool, which I use to configure the performance of the longrun processor in Linux. As for Ubuntu on ECS A530 laptops (and other ECS based machines), I maintain the Wiki Page [2] on ECS Hardware Support. Adding your insights in the page would be most appreciated. I currently have patches [3] submitted to the Debian upstream maintainer primarily for Ubuntu -- however, I am still to qualify as the package maintainer for Ubuntu universe, which I am currently working on.
