No firmware magic. The older batch of Semprons are 32-bit, and the newer ones are real 64-bit microprocessors. Semprons are just like Celerons: they're from the AthlonXP (for 32-bit) or Athlon64 (64-bit) line but they did not pass QA for AthlonXP/64 but passed QA for Sempron. -- Gideon N.
