The supposedly better Linux support for nVidia cards (which I dispute) only matters when you're playing 3D games of the near Toy Story variety. I ditched my last nVidia card because of problems with watching videos on it (XVideo extension). I also remember the hell I went through trying to get the Linux framebuffer to play nice with the binary drivers. There may have been a fix for the problem somewhere. But it was definitely not a simple case of loading and unloading modules.
