Sorry bout that... hands went faster than the brain.... anyway... I was
looking around after I replied, and found only two things:

CONFIG_EFI_PARTITION=n 

and recompile, or  update the firmware... 

although you've probably found those by now (just posting for anyone
else who might run into the same).
