Hi, I think it's pretty much the same when you're installing on a whitebox and on a branded box. Though I think you should consider the following:
1. Hardware Supportensure that all components you're putting into your whitebox is supported
by linux drivers/kernel modules 2. Requirement Lifespanimho, as long as the environment conditions of your machines are adequate,
white boxes would be stable for at least 3 years. 3. Business Requirementsif you need to get the best aftersales support to ensure uptime, then you opt to go for those branded ones. (turnaround of 1-4 hrs) but if you can get that
that same level of SLA from your supplier, or if you can provide your ownsupport and the availability of parts, then i guess it's just fine to get the white box.
4. Budget i recently requested for a quote from IBM and an ordinary whitebox supplier, and dang! the white box is 50% way cheaper.I agree with fooler, try to get a demo. That will, at the very least, ensure that
all the components in that box are compatible with your distro. Well, that's it. Hope this helps. :) abetpcmt wrote:
