I usually start off my pitch for FOSS migration with this dire warning: "Linux != Microsoft". We then proceed to outline the basic differences, and move from there.
The hardest part is weaning from even the most basic commands (like, what's the shortcut for scaling font sizes in OO.o?). But it helps that we have technically adept coworkers who aren't resistant to change -- they will just as easily accept any alternative, so long as it does its job right. The situation is a bit different for those with zero knowledge -- try teaching farmers how to hold a mouse. There, migration is not even an issue -- it just doesn't exist, because there's nothing to migrate from! Having a FOSS lab sure worked in our case, but it's still a long way off. -- Ian Dexter R.
