I'm probably late on this, but one thing you can do in learning Linux
aside from reading up the fine documentation in TLDP or HowtoForge is to
set up your own sandbox for trying out stuff. If you're currently on
Windows, it's probably easiest to get some virtualization software like
VMWare Player or Bochs, and get a prebuilt Linux image from the 'Net
just for playing; once you get comfortable, you can make your own image,
or better yet, if you now have some free hardware, install Linux on it.

Hands-on experience is one of the best teachers (and I'm sure many here
on the list will agree,) and the occasional question-asking in PLUG and
elsewhere also helps greatly. FWIW, I myself am recently enjoying a new
position as a sysadmin (and I haven't done my college yet :P,) which is
why the late reply. And yes, despite this, I feel that I've yet to see
and learn more stuff `out there' than what's described in manuals or
technical specs: I'm still learning... :D

Cheers,

Zakame
