I downloaded FC8 x86-64 last night (took all night on my Globe DSL
here at home). Now I was gonna (joy!) install it on my PC....

and everything comes to a screeching halt. Apparently this is a
well-known bug: the ata_piix driver (SATA) grabs the PATA interface.
But ata_piix doesn't support PATA ATAPI devices like (gasp!) my
DVD-ROM drive. So... installation cannot complete.

On Ubuntu, there's supposed to be an expert mode where you can disable
the ata_piix driver (it will then use the time-honoured ide driver)
and everything is frosty. But I don't know how to do this in FC8 (my
last Linux installs were OEL5 -- RHEL5 clone -- and FC6 a year ago).
And a quick google turns up nothing.

Ideas?
