It's possible that Dido is actually using "classic" PLDT WeRoam, which
is GPRS/EDGE only, not 3G/3.5G. GPRS and EDGE have the horrid latencies
and pathetic bandwidth that Dido described in his previous email, while
3G and 3.5G are like "low-end consumer DSL" as you describe. The latency
of 3G/3.5G is still not as consistently decent as DSL, but is very
usable even for interactive sessions like SSH.

I would actually say that 3.5G is more than just "low-end consumer DSL"
when you have decent signal. When I've got decent signal, my Globe
Visibility HSDPA allows me to download at speeds exceeding 100KB/s.
Uploads are capped, though, so BitTorrent is so painfully slow I don't
even try anymore.

Cheers!
