Yep it is rude but the term is more like a suggestion like RTFM. Anyways
you dont really say it just to someone, just a reminder that google is
always available. hehehe.

Thanks for the input guys.. exceprt for this one ---> GMG? What was
that for? That's a bit rude to say to someone. We are now in what we
say professional levels unless you are still in college to give a
responce like that. He is not asking for free but a paid tutorial. I
think his company have project for him that he needs a crash course in
Linux/Unix environment. And what he will gonna learn will be implied
to the company he is working now.
So to sum it up..
Student = Free + encouragement (use Google)
Business = Professional Fee (Fair) + Support + encouragement (use Google)
Thanks again.

Geruel

GMG = Google mo g...@*o <mailto:g...@*o>. Sorry for the term, but this
was the term we used back when we were in college when someone was
asking us about linux.

Right lets teach them how open linux is... how easy to find these

If somebody is wanting linux services that's the time we can give
higher prices.
Learning studying linux let it be free..

I agree with Arnel it should be a minimal charge but teach
him how to research on his own because its best to learn
linux through experience. Have him install fedora or ubuntu
on his personal laptop or desktop.
Cheers,
Philip

To me, It depends on the purpose of the student if
he/she is learning for personal reason charge it for
free. If your client is in business then you have to
give a price like one half of the price of the
certification centers.
I learned linux for free, my American mentor shared it
with me for free now. I am sharing it for free. I am
happy to teach for free no charge for the first 8 hours
more than that then with minimal charges he he he.
I suggest still in minimal charge. If you're earning let
say 5hundred pesos a day in your job may be you can base
on that.

Hi Guys,
Somebody is asking me to give him a private lesson on
linux like some sort of private tutorial and he is
willing to pay for it. I have no idea how much will I
charge him? Any suggestions? How about the references
or modules that I might have to use to make it easy
for him? I learn linux hands-on from a live and
working environment (50 servers) so I learned the
basic and advance level at the same time.
Suggestions and advices will be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Geruel
