I have been getting my nvidia-current updates from that PPA and I have had a
no problem with it. nvidia-current from X-Updates eventually will go to the
mainline repository. When in doubt, I just do a nvidia-xconfig to create a
new xorg.conf. But generally speaking, if an Ubuntu user wants to get the
best performance from the Nvidia blob, he/she needs to do some tweaks on
blob driver, CPU governor, and Compiz.
