it isn't confusing if the device is bridging between the wireless and the wired side. but when you use the wan port, it does nat routing (unless that device has the ability to be setup in wap mode, or bridge mode or something like that). since you are seeing one way pingability, that sounds like the laptop is behind a nat box (just like your internet router). by using the lan ports on the linksys you'll get bridged behaviour because those are both "inside" the nat. with dhcp disabled on the linksys, your laptop dhcp will be bridged to the netgear and get that info for routing, dns, etc and the gateway functionality on the linksys won't be used. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
