VirtualBox does indeed support USB for the guest, you need to be sure it is
enabled in the configuration settings for your particular VM.

I have been using VirtualBox successfully for some time now, on Windows host
and Linux host, running all manner of guest VMs- Windows, Linux,
OpenSolaris.... etc.
