Victor, Congratulations on getting it to work. You are right, sometimes just organizing the details of the problem can help lead to it's solution. While I do not have Civ 4, I did look and found this<http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24310>on WineHQ's site. It looks like it is a known problem with some of the patches. Unfortunately, I am not likely to be of much further help than this. The learning curve for Linux can be steep but it is worth the investment of time. Hang in there and I am sure you will get it!
