David, Thank you. The one thread on this subject that I found on a web forum mentioned something about a smarthost. But, Wietse wrote that dovecot does not authenticate against a remote server. While dovecot seems to be preferred to cyrus in most networks, it apparently will not work for me unless, or until, I can use smtp directly and with relaying. I first set up postfix here in 1998 and have used it with cyrus-sasl since then. Now that I'm the only one sending and receiving mail here (the other user does gmail, but that local mailbox collects spam) it probably does not matter. So, I'll remove dovecot and not spend more time looking for a more elegant solution that probably makes no difference here. The one remaining issue, beyond my knowledge to fix despite my looking at both source code and the SlackBuild script, is why one line in /usr/libexec/postfix/post-install has an unquoted variable, $path, on line 504 with each upgrade since 2.11.2. I fix that manually, but it would be nice to see that 'feature' fixed. Much appreciated, Rich _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
