Dick, Have you also considered qemu <https://www.qemu.org/>? I've no idea of the relative capabilities/merits of the different virtualziers but was advised to switch from virtualbox to quemu when I upgraded my Dell laptop from Slackware-14.1 to Slackware-14.2. I use the virtual win7 only to upgrade GPS maps so I cannot commnent on how it might be for your gear puller ... er, player application.
