That should simplify a LOT of disk mounts going forward. And if you need to 
reconfigure your RAID box this will help avoid the problems you run into when a 
disk fails and needs to be replaced. It just requires a little more effort up 
front. 

It won't prevent weird stuff from happening when the USB device resets, but at 
least re-mounting a defunct device won't be the thing that delays your water 
quality reports.....
