Thanks all around for the  ideas....

Although it still leaves you depending on a distant server for the
information I'm going to try the yi.  It is simple and very straight
forward.  I also like the features that come with ...  the sub-domain name
is kinda nice if you want to give it to others...URL forwarding etc...
