IMP is a server-side PHP program that allows the webserver
to get your mail from your mail server and display them
as webpages to your browser (in Win/Linux/etc)
[Mail server] <--> [Webserver with PHP/IMP] <--> [Browser]
IMP can not serve mail to your Exchange server
since IMP serves webpages, not SMTP mail.
