hi folks!
i'm just curious... does linux have a binary compatibility programming
standard like COM on the MS platforms? asking lang, kasi i havent
encountered any equivalent so far... w/c begs the question, does linux or
unix for that matter even NEED something similar to COM? for distributed
objects, i know there's CORBA, but what about plain local objects that might
not necessarily need an object request broker?

ps.
come to think of it, what compiled programming languages are there on linux
anyway? if most apps are predominantly done in C/C++ i guess the issue of
binary compatibility would be pointless; the regular shared libraries would
do, rather than have a COM implementation....
just thinking out loud...
