#Java Complete, also from Sybex, about the same size, and the same bargain
#price. OTOH, going over the descriptions at the back, I don't know that they're

I won't recommend Java Complete to a beginner. The book doesn't touch
much on Java, the language, but more on Java's APIs -- it's like those
MSVC++ books that don't really touch on the C++ langauge but more of the
tool.

If you're looking for a bargain, try Bruce Eckel's "Thinking In
Java" book. The PDF version if free for download ->
http://www.eckelobjects.com. If you need more book recommendations in
Java, pls let me know.. I would be happy to give you more info.

stay cool.
